Once the award document arrives in whatever format, the research administrator in charge of negotiating the award, if that will be necessary, must review the award for terms and conditions. Most often, there are three articles that need to be reviewed especially carefully. These are the indemnification article, the intellectual property article, and the governing law, which is usually towards the end of the sponsor’s handbook on awards or, if a contract, in the document itself.
Some of the Federal websites to assist with this review are:
National Institutes of Health - grants http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/oer.htm National Institutes of Health – contracts http://ocm.od.nih.gov/contracts/contract.htm National Science Foundation http://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=gpm National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration http://www.ago.noaa.gov/grants/awdprovisions.shtml NASA http://ec.msfc.nasa.gov/hq/grcover.htm Federal Demonstration Partnership Terms and Conditions http://thefdp.org/TC_Standing_Committee.html Contracts http://thefdp.org/Contracts.html Sub agreements http://thefdp.org/Subawards.html
