Authority for research administration is assigned within the organization to insure accurate, compliant and timely management for research. Some organizations deploy authority for approvals of proposal submission, expenses on grants and contracts, compliance actions, etc. to decentralized RAs. Other organizations control these authorities at the central level, and only allocate authority to designated individuals when absolutely necessary.
